Welcome To Inwood!

The Inwood community welcomed Textile Lab on Saturday at the GrowNYC Greenmarket! We created dyes with fennel, celery, zinnia and cilantro from J Glebocki Farm. We talked to many residents from the neighborhood including a professional textile dyer, Rosanna Maher and Jane Herman, who is a textile artist. You can see a picture of one of Jane's beautiful felted textiles that she retrieved from her studio to show us!

Textile Lab Visits Inwood This Saturday!

Join Textile Lab this Saturday (9/3) from 10am-3pm at the Inwood greenmarket at Isham and Cooper Streets. We are expecting  plenty of sunshine,  as we collect plants, make dyes and knit and spin local wool and alpaca fibers!

Textile Lab at the Union Square Pavilion!

Join Textile Lab this coming Saturday 8/27,  at the Union Square Pavilion ( North End of Union Square along 17th Street). We will be creating dyes from local plants,  dyeing recycled t shirts, and spinning yarn from local wool! Textile Lab will be at the Pavilion from 11am -3pm. For more information visit:

Thunder

In spite of the torrential rain and thunder, Textile Lab was present at the 79th Street greenmarket . We created dyes with  zinnias from Berried Treasure and Duva Farms, and cilantro from Gajeski Farm. We also got very, very WET!!

Join Textile Lab this Sunday (8/14) at the 79th Street market at Columbus Ave and 79th Street from 10am-5pm. See the yarns that we dyed with the plants from the last greenmarket excursion! We will also be knitting and spinning yarn made from local wool.

Maiden Voyage

We had  great success at the market in Greenpoint Brooklyn!  There are many vendors there like, Healthway Farms,  Dutchmill Farms, and S &S.O Produce. We created dye from sunflowers, red cabbage, parsley, and carrot tops. More to come when we dye the yarn!

Preview of the Textile Lab

Here is a preview of the Micro Textile Lab waiting to be filled with materials for the greenmarket event tomorrow Saturday 7/30. We will be at the GrowNYC greenmarket in McCarren Park in Brooklyn foraging for plants, creating dyes, spinning, knitting, and crocheting!
